Hard to believe its been 4 years since Jay Leno visited Nissan headquarters to offer an opinion on the next Z car. He basically said Nissan should go back to the 240Z ideals: light, quick, and affordable. The 240Z went on sale in 1969 with an MSRP of about $3,500, which if you solve for inflation is around $22,000 today. Today's Z is too heavy, not quick as others in the price range, and way too expensive. If Nissan will just build a solid bottom half of a turbo-charged engine, the aftermarket will do the rest. Lightweight makes up for a lot of unbuilt horsepower. The look of the car would have to be awesome...or they would just lose to the toyota FR-S crowd. Is anyone hopeful Nissan can/will pull this off ?
